Time’s All Gone is Nick Waterhouse‘s debut album that is available today. From the album, “Some Place” is available to hear now, and wow, am I loving the down south scratchiness it latches onto, with tapping keys in the back, horns that amplify the song, and that jazzy sax which brings everything together. Oh, and how could I leave out the perfectly placed guitar solo. Another song that I think belongs on the next Quentin Tarantino movie soundtrack, again just suggesting it for the third Kill Bill movie.

Just heard about Patrick Contreras from one of my boys, and this kid has to have one of the best, most original sounds out there. He turns his violin into what sounds like a screaming, soaring electric axe, with distortion, wa-wahs and all, but still keeps the resonation of a fiddle. Contreras really takes the electronic violin to new levels as he amazingly covers some Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Santana, as well as makes his own music, and is a master at improvisation. Definitely catching him next time he plays live… especially since he’s from Fresno. Check out some other songs like “Purple Haze” and “Mad World” at his myspace page.

If your Monday is a little tense or if your boss just screamed at you, you may want to hold off til later to Xiu Xiu‘s new music video. But if you think you can handle some psychotic, gruesome images, and you like artsy music videos, you’re at the right place. Check out “Honeysuckle” here.

See you guys again next year, hopefully will get to meet some of you as well.

Yeah, I said hold everything… we are graced with a new video from Neil Young & Crazy Horse. First I was stoked that I would be seeing them later this summer at Outside Lands, and didn’t expect this video, so the day is extra good. And such a great video, looks like some footage from the early 1900′s or possibly recreated to give that old country feel.

I’d consider anyone brave, that stays strong, keeps smiling, and won’t give up without a fight against that evil spell called cancer. Yes, Bobby Womack suffers from Colon Cancer, and just had pneumonia, but still fights with his soulful voice to get through the worst of the worst. With Womack’s album to be released 6/12, he has given us another glimpse of what to expect from his upcoming project, with the lead off, album-titled song, “The Bravest Man In The Universe”. This one is extra soulful, with some new electronic snaps and claps that go perfect with his tone. I Especially like when the piano and whistling joins in.
Bobby Womack was released from the hospital after his pneumonia scare.
Our hearts are with you Mr. Womack, and we are here to fight with you. May your music cure all!
