On May 18, in San Francisco, 20 bands (of all genres), were paired with 20 film makers, and a Music Video Race was in order. The pairing had less than a full weekend to create a brand new music video. What a great concept, that should continue next year as Music Video Race, to find out more about it.

Mayhem Lauren has brought on a few artists to join him in his upcoming mix-tape, Respect The Fly Sh**. I featured this song at the beginning of the month, and now we find Himanshu and Action Bronson, rapping with Mayhem in Himanshu‘s own apartment… low-budget? Maybe, but still a good song.

If Justin Hawkins voice isn’t enough to keep you listening to The Darkness, then the visuals in their new video for “Every Inch Of You” will be. The song and video explains in a nut shell, how they came to play music, but I guarantee that’s not what your focus will be on. The lyrics are there to help you learn and sing along with the ultimate British (Queen-like), rock band… which would’ve come to you anyways, figuring how many times you’ll watch this video (as I will too, lol). Look for the new album Hot Cakes 8/21, and enjoy the hell out of this music video.

Almost skipped over this one, and am so glad I didn’t. “Tiptoe Through the True Bits” from Los Campesinos!, is something different I’ve been looking for, with an eclectic mix of sounds through out the song, that you’re definitely not expecting. With a mixture of horns on this track, which by now you should know always catches my attention, and some great back up vocals that gives the song some great harmony. At times it makes you feel as if a complete orchestra is backing them up… have a listen.

Just posted an amazingly well done video last month for “Only The Horses”. If you thought the quality of that video was out of control, you’re in for another great one from Scissor Sisters, with much more going on. This one’s got some funk, and definitely lots of soul to it. I can’t believe this isn’t on the radio more, or should we expect it to be? Check this one out if you don’t check any other songs out today.
